I teach and do some research in Web design and development, publishing, editing, journalism, communication and composition. I work more across disciplines than within, a product of having started as a biologist who moved through newspapers to desktop publishing to Web. My most recent research was on motives of fan Web site creators, and I am also compiling material for a course slated for spring, 2010 on online journalism that I hope will use and discuss Web 2.0 (3.0?) tools and how they might shape the future of news and communication online. I do a bit of teaching of entry-level scripting programming in my Web courses (JavaScript, AJAX, PHP, ColdFusion) and database connections. A lot of those courses is devoted to XHTML, CSS, XML and XML-related languages.
